I live in the digital age and I feel lucky for that.
In my commercial and other personal works I shoot only with this technology.
CADMIUMBROMIDE comes from completely different needs, something that made its way inside me
It is not and should not be construed as a technical virtuosity or a mannerism.
In response to a world too often “virtual”, the first need I’ve heard was the impetus in a process that had a strong hand, linked to movements and acts of craftsmanship, to arrive at a physical product.
Since long time I have been fascinated with the psychological tension between subject and camera: shooting with large format camera gives me the opportunity to obtain details of the subject that otherwise could not be reachable.
When shooting without being able to look in the camera, I live an instant of true voyeurism, the relationship is between the large format camera and the subject, the photographer is like the theater director who then become only a spectator and critic.
Roland Barthes says that photography is closer to the theater and filmmaking and in these shots I think I understand what he meant, I hope to carry it also in those who want to observe.
